Föreningen för Smedsläktsforskning – FFS is an organisation especially focusing on research about blacksmiths and their families with roots in Sweden since the 1650s and on iron foundries.
FFS was founded in 1994 and its main task has been to create and publish a database of blacksmiths and their families. In August 2015 it contained information on more than 282 000 persons and is steadily growing. Based on the database the organisation produces every other year, from 2013 the database on a usb flash drive (earlier on a DVD). Based on members’ research FFS strives to edit 1-2 leaflets on blacksmith families annually. Until 2015 32 leaflets have been produced.
